Great success at the Opera House for
the “Organ Gala 2005”
|
A warm and
enthusiastic public of over 1,500 people assisted at the ninth
edition of the Organ Gala, which was a great success.
|
|
The concert-show,
conducted with elegance and rhythm by Federica Moro, went through
moments of great emotional impact. |
|
“Changing States” –
almost an overture by Keith Emerson – performed at the Electone by
Antonio Cardia, opened the evening.
The
extraordinary choreography by Tiziana Troya with dancers, acrobats
and fire-eaters kept the audience with bated breath because of the
spectacularity of the match with the music, the ballet, the visuals
and effects. |
|
Prince Igor, from
the Polovesian dances by Borodin, performed masterfully at the
Electone Organ by Gianluca Cogoni was counterpoint to the marvelous
ballet by Assunta Pittaluga. A true monument to art of the Cagliari
Dance, Assunta Pittaluga returned to the stage with her dancers
thanks to the strong motivation dictated by the desire to be part,
entirely, of the beautiful team of artists and not of “Organ Gala
2005”. This with a particular regard to the young Sardinian artists,
certainly very well represented by the talent and professionalism of
Gianluca Cogoni. |
|
The Cagliari
pianist, Marco Meloni, with his personal arrangements of “Spain” and
“Take the A train” has proved a continuous artistic progress and a
mature musical growth. |
|
The first part ended
with the Choir of Nuoro, “Su Nugoresu”, directed by Tonino Peddu.
The great
maestro of Sardinian folklore and his choir offered the Cagliari
public four pieces – “Terra Soberana”, “Non ti poto amare”, “A
ballare” and the renowned “Nanneddu meu”.
Not everyone
knows that “Nanneddu meu”, by now considered one the hymns of
popular Sardinian music, was composed personally by Tonino Puddu. The ballet, by
Assunta Pittaluga, has aroused great emotion with the piece “A
ballare” where classical dance has blended splendidly with the
traditional Sardinian dance steps. |
|
The children choir
of the “Pierluigi Da Palestrina” Cagliari Conservatory, directed by
Enrico Di Maira opened the second part of the musical show with
“Beyond the century”, by Karl Jenkins.
Accompanied
at the Electone by Daniela Mura, the choir roused great applauses
and appreciations.
The final
children’s rhyme, written by Tonino Puddu, in Sardinian, was
stirring.
In "This
little Babe", by Britten, accompanied at the Clavinova piano (with
the tone of the harp), by Daniela Mura, the Choir has upheld, thanks
mainly to the skills of Maestro Di Maira (and to his extraordinary
passion), the attainment of an excellent level of preparation and
ensemble. |
|
Daniela Mura,
President of the Cdmi Music School Association, who staged the
event, sustained with “Alvamar Overture”, by James Barnes, her
remarkable skills of concert performer, as well as sensitive artist.
The ballet
was much appreciated with the choreography by Luigia Frattaroli, in
the adagio of the second movement. |
|
The evening closed
with the performance by Thomas Kärcher, high-wire of the Electone
Organ.
With “Allegro con
fuoco”, from the symphony “Dal nuovo mondo” by Dvorak, he later
demonstrated the extraordinary orchestral possibilities of this
instrument.
It is
followed by the waltz performance of the ballet “Sleeping Beauty”,
by Tchaykovsky with the splendid choreography by Assunta Pittaluga. Thomas Kärcher
then completed his performance with "Monmuth college fight song" by
the Yellow Jackets, and in a duo with Daniela Mura, “Maybe”, by Emma
Bunton. |
|
Then the public’s
enthusiasm led to an encore from Daniela with a piece entitled, “Elan”,
by Lovland, and from Thomas, "Jumping at the woodside" by Caunt
Basie.
In conclusion, an
extraordinary success for a concert-show with a unique format
ideated and directed by Antonello Mura.
The entire event was
shot on television camera by Ottavio Nieddu and directed by Marco
Loi, for the production of a DVD and the regional broadcast – and in
a national circuit – by Nova Television.
Excellent work
carried out by Alfredo Scrivani for the graphic art (on the detail
of a painting, by Carla Mura), visuals by Giorgio Dettori, Marco
Angioni for the CD of “Organ Gala 2005” and Pier Paolo Meloni for
the sound.
The concert
permitted an important donation (seven thousand Euro) to the Welfare
Hotel “Casa Lions” annexed to the hospital Businco of Cagliari, and
through the donation of 500 CDs to the Association Mondo X of Father
Salvatore Morittu (five thousand Euro). |
